The common types are product concept testing (a feature or product idea), creative concept testing (ads, hero imagery), messaging testing (positioning, taglines), pricing testing (tiers, willingness-to-pay), naming testing, and feature prioritization. Concept tests can be qualitative (rich reactions) or quantitative (scale scores across a panel).
Focus groups give you rich, in-the-room reactions but suffer from groupthink, scale poorly, and take weeks to organize.
