Project Access
Project access controls who inside your organization can open a project and its results.
Open a project and click the Users button near the publish control to manage access.
Access Modes#
All Organization Members#
This is the default for new projects. Every non-billing organization user with workspace access can open the project.
Organization roles still control editing:
- Owners, admins, and members can edit.
- Read-only users can view but cannot save changes.
- Billing users cannot open projects.
Restricted Access#
Restricted access limits the project to selected users.
When restricted access is enabled, you can choose which members should have access and set their project permission:
- Read only: can open the project, responses, and analytics, but cannot edit.
- Read + edit: can edit project content if their organization role also allows workspace editing.
Always Allowed Users#
Some users cannot be removed from a project:
- Owners and admins can access every project.
- The project creator can access their project. If their organization role allows workspace editing, they can also edit and manage access for it.
These users count as selected in the access dialog even when their checkbox is locked.
How Project Access Interacts With Organization Roles#
Project access can narrow access, but it cannot increase organization permissions.
Examples:
- A read-only organization user selected as Read + edit remains read-only.
- A billing user cannot access projects.
- A member selected as Read only can view the project but cannot edit that project.
- An admin can access and edit every project even if the project is restricted.
Project Lists#
The dashboard project list only shows restricted projects that the current user can view. Owners and admins see all projects.
